The one rule
Be a human being, with a soul. Bring your morals and your compassion with you, and treat the person on the other side of a deal the way you'd want to be treated.
- Don't post anything false. Describe your kit exactly as it is, faults and all.
- Don't rip each other off. Not on price, condition, payment or postage.
- Be fair and honest at all times, in your listings, your messages and your deals.
Most problems are honest mistakes, so be kind while you sort them out. RC racing is a small world: the person you're dealing with could be next to you in the pits one day. Everything below is the detail.
Who we are
Marbl Racing ("we", "us") is run by MEM Digital Ltd, trading as Marbl Racing, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 13753194. Registered office: 25 Osier Way, Olney, Buckinghamshire, MK46 5FP. VAT number: GB400325657. ICO registration: ZB306782. Email: hello@marbl.racing.
These terms apply to everyone. When you list an item or send an enquiry, you agree to them on the form.
We're the noticeboard, not the shop
Marbl Racing is a free noticeboard and club directory for UK RC car racing. No accounts, no fees, no commission.
We're not a party to any sale. The contract is between the buyer and the seller. We don't hold payment, inspect items, or guarantee that an item is as described, that a seller will deliver or that a buyer will pay.
A person checks every listing before it goes live for red flags and relevance. We review the listing, not the item, so ask the seller anything that matters before you buy.
Who can use it
- Marbl Racing is for people aged 18 and over. Listing, enquiring, our news list and our contact forms are for over-18s, and the sign-up, sell and enquiry forms ask you to confirm you're 18 or over. Under 18? Ask a parent or guardian to get in touch for you. If we think someone under 18 has listed, enquired or joined our news list, we'll remove it. If a child could be at risk, we'll report it to the police straight away and pass on what we hold.
- Anyone can browse, and younger racers do, so we don't publish anything sexual, violent, hateful or otherwise unsuitable for children. Anyone can report a problem too, whatever their age.
If you sell
When you list something, you promise that:
- It's yours to sell, and legal to sell in the UK.
- Your description is true, working state and known faults included. "None" must mean none.
- Your photos show the actual item, or the listing says they don't, and you have the right to use them. Keep people out of them, and never include a child.
- You'll honour what you agree, and use the buyer's name and email for that sale only.
Batteries: Royal Mail and most couriers won't carry loose lithium batteries, so battery listings are collection only. If a bundle includes packs, keep them out of the parcel and hand them over in person. Tyre additive is collection only too: it's a flammable liquid, so it never goes in the post.
Your listing: you keep ownership of your words and photos, and let us show them on the site and in search results until the listing comes down. If you tick the box, we may also share it (never your name or email) in the Marbl Racing Facebook group. We delete our post within 7 days of the listing coming down or you asking.
Listings run for 30 days (ask if you need longer), and you can relist within 30 days of expiry. To mark one sold, delete or relist it, request a manage link at marbl.racing/manage. Your name and email are never published, and when a listing ends we erase your details and photos on the timetable in our privacy notice.
We can decline or remove any listing, and we'll tell you why unless the law or someone's safety stops us (see complaints if you think we got it wrong).
Selling as a business
Businesses are welcome to list used kit, as long as they say so. Used kit only: a business can't list new stock, and the sell form won't accept a trade listing marked new. If you sell as part of a business (including anyone who buys items to sell on for profit), tick "I'm selling as a business" on the sell form, add your business name and address, and your listing will show "Trade seller" with them instead of "Private seller".
Buyers from a business get more rights. Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described (Consumer Rights Act 2015), and a sale agreed at a distance, such as by email with the item posted, can usually be cancelled within 14 days of delivery (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). You're responsible for meeting those rights, for giving a true business name and address on the form, and for giving buyers any other information the law requires before they commit.
Posing as a private seller when you're a business is banned (Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024). We remove those listings and may turn down that seller's future ones.
If you buy
- Read the whole listing, faults included, and ask anything that matters before you agree.
- Mean what you offer. Pay and collect as agreed.
- Know your rights. From a private seller, an item must match its description and be theirs to sell, but you don't get the wider rights you'd have from a business, such as satisfactory quality or 14 days to cancel. From a trade seller, you do.
Paying and posting
Prices don't include postage. If an item is posted or sent by courier, the buyer and the seller agree the cost between them before anyone pays.
We don't handle money, so we strongly recommend:
- Paying remotely? PayPal Goods and Services, which carries PayPal's buyer protection. The seller pays the fee. Never Friends and Family with someone you don't know: it gives no buyer protection, and being asked to use it is a red flag.
- Collecting? Cash in person is fine, once you've seen the item.
- No bank transfers to strangers, and never gift cards, crypto, money transfer services or cheques.
- Posting? A tracked, signed-for courier, such as Royal Mail Special Delivery, with proof of postage. Agree in writing who carries the risk in the post before anyone pays. If you don't, the law often puts it on the buyer once a private sale is posted.
More practical advice: Buying safely.
When a deal goes wrong
Disputes are between the buyer and the seller. We don't referee sales: we won't decide who's right, and we can't make anyone pay, refund, return or send anything. But we do act on reports of fraud, illegal or dangerous items and abuse.
Talk to each other first, calmly and in writing, and keep your evidence, including a screenshot of the listing. Paid with PayPal Goods and Services? Open a dispute with PayPal. Scammed? Call your bank straight away and report it to Report Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or at reportfraud.police.uk (in Scotland, Police Scotland on 101). Still stuck? Try Citizens Advice (Advice Direct Scotland in Scotland) or the small claims court (simple procedure in Scotland).
Reporting a problem
Anyone can report a listing, an enquiry or a user. Use the Report link on the listing, or email hello@marbl.racing with the listing reference, as soon as you can. Don't reply to an enquiry email to report it: replies go to the other person, not to us.
We act on:
- anything that puts a child at risk, such as an adult trying to meet, message or get personal details from someone under 18. These come first, and we report them to the police and CEOP (the National Crime Agency's child protection command). If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
- fraud and scams, stolen goods, and prohibited or illegal items;
- deliberately false listings, and businesses posing as private sellers;
- harassment, threats, hate or abuse, pretending to be someone else, and spam;
- scraping or collecting people's details, automated or bulk submissions, and getting around our blocks, limits or security;
- under-18s listing, enquiring or joining our news list.
We can remove or refuse listings, stop passing on enquiries and block the address behind them, and turn down future listings from anyone who breaks these terms. Where the law requires or allows it, for example to help prevent or detect crime, we pass information to the police, Report Fraud or another authority.
How we handle reports and complaints
We'll confirm we've got your report or complaint within two working days, and aim to decide within five working days, with anything illegal, dangerous or involving a child first. A person makes every decision to remove a listing or block someone; our automatic checks only hold enquiries for a person to look at. Where we can, we'll tell you what we did.
If we removed or turned down your listing, held or didn't pass on your enquiry, or blocked you, and you think we got it wrong, email us and a person will look again. You can also complain to us if you think we're not meeting our duties under the Online Safety Act 2023. Ofcom doesn't handle individual complaints, but you can tell it about a problem at ofcom.org.uk.
Things you can't list
- Stolen goods, or anything you don't have the right to sell.
- Counterfeits sold as genuine. Unbranded "compatible" parts are fine if they're described that way.
- Damaged, swollen ("puffed") or leaking LiPo batteries, any battery you know isn't safe, and LiPo packs offered for posting.
- Weapons, and anything that needs an age check to buy, such as knives and blades sold on their own (hobby knives included), lighter gas and alcohol.
- Fuels (including nitro), solvents, and other flammable or hazardous liquids and gases. The one exception is tyre additive, which you can list for collection only, never posted.
- Radio equipment that isn't legal to use in the UK, and recalled or unsafe products.
- Anything sexual, violent or hateful, and words or photos copied without permission.
- Anything else illegal to sell or own in the UK, anything that isn't RC racing kit, adverts, and "wanted" posts.
Enquiries
- Buyers contact sellers through the listing's enquiry form. The first time, we email you a link to confirm your address.
- We screen every enquiry automatically for scam signs, such as links, phone numbers, payment tricks, or a connection from outside the UK, Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. Flagged enquiries wait for a person, which can take a few days, and lapse unsent if not reviewed within 14 days. We can't always tell you, so if you hear nothing, the seller may not have seen it.
- The seller receives your name, message and email address and can reply to you directly. Their address stays hidden until they do, and after that we're not part of the conversation.
Clubs, sponsors and links
- Club and event details come from clubs' own public information, so check with the club before you travel. Clubs can ask us to correct or remove their entry.
- Marbl Racing is paid for by sponsors, and sponsor content is clearly labelled. Speed RC is our headline sponsor. Sponsors aren't part of any sale and don't endorse listings.
- We aren't responsible for other websites we link to.
- Our store and starter packages aren't open yet. When they open, they'll have their own terms saying who you're buying from.
Our responsibility to you
You're responsible for your own listings, messages and deals. We'll run Marbl Racing with reasonable care and skill, but it's free, and we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or up to date.
We're not responsible for the sale itself (the item, its description, payment, postage and collection), what other people write, loss caused by the site being unavailable or by websites we link to, loss that wasn't a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to take reasonable care, or business losses such as lost profit. None of this covers foreseeable loss caused by our own failure to take reasonable care, such as a fault in how we pass on an enquiry.
If we are responsible for a loss, our total liability to you, for all claims together, is limited to £100, because the service is free.
What we never exclude: nothing in these terms, including that limit, limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breaking data protection law, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit or exclude. Your statutory rights are not affected.
Changes
We may change, pause or close any part of Marbl Racing. We may update these terms, and we'll show any material change on the site at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless the law or someone's safety means it has to happen sooner. The date at the top shows which version applies.
The legal bit
To list, you fill in, check and submit the sell form, and a person checks it before it goes live. You can correct it before submitting, and ask us to fix mistakes afterwards. These terms are in English only. We don't keep a personal copy of the terms you agreed to, so save or print this page if you'd like one.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute with us. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
